Yipee, I can post pictures now! More about Beijing!
Our first stop was the Tiananmen Square. We used the Beijing Subway to get there. Their subways were surprisingly convenient. Jiawei said that this wasn't the usual situation of their public tranportation. It just happened to be CNY that's why majority of the Chinese were home so we couldn't see the proof of China's overpopulation.
There's nothing much to see inside the Tiananmen Square aside from Chairman Mao's preserved body. Of course pictures inside were forbidden. They would not even let you bring your own bag inside, that's why Jiawei had opted to guard our bags and wait for us outside the building.
I was reminded of the Monumento in Caloocan where my mom usually took me when I was younger.
This really is overwhelming.
More government buildings outside the square:
I was so happy when I captured this photo. Nataon talaga ung saranggola! Haha!
As a sign of China's civilization and entrance to the global community, they are really serious in preparing for the 2008 Olympics. Here you can see their countdown board, complete with days, hours, minutes and seconds to the next celebration of the world's most spectacular sports event.
