Goldman Sachs teaches financial management
Investment bank Goldman Sachs teamed up with Enrich on May 17 for a second level course in financial literacy at the Bayanihan Center.
Fifteen advanced to complete the lecture on "Good Planning with Money," a talk of how to manage finances effectively, after completing the "Good Habits with Money."
The Goldman Sachs Community Team Works volunteers spent the morning reinforcing good habits in managing money by guiding participants in using Microsoft Excel to record spending habits, budget, and plan savings.
The participants were given realistic figures and were asked to set a savings goal and proposed ways to achieve it.
The course was formally wrapped up with a lunch buffet and a graduation ceremony, but the celebration did not end there. Enrich and GS-CTW team arranged a short getaway to the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in Tai Po later in the afternoon to help participants celebrate the end of their course.
The initiative was meant to inspire migrant women to hone their financial leadership skills and in the process, help them shape their future.
Enrich is a registered non-government, non-religious and non-political organization. It provides practical training on financial literacy and personal development to ethnic minorities, migrant workers (especially domestic workers) and new arrivals to Hong Kong.
The training sessions are held in a range of languages at different locations in Hong Kong and Kowloon. Its aim is to empower women to take greater control of their lives, secure their future and raise their standard of living.
