i am officially a student
yey!!! yesterday i got my materials for the 4 month courses of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am taking up PERSONNEL AND HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT and HONG KONG BUSINESS LAW.
it's a distance learning mode, but they got all the shizz. papers, deadlines, homeworks. yeba!

lawyer
tinitignan ko ung friendster photos ng isang high school mate ko. ka-batch sya ng kapatid ko (meaning two years younger sya saken) at nakita kong pagraduate na sya ng law sa UST. mabait na bata un at wala akong anumang bagay laban sa kanya..
pero takte, buti pa sya! teka, more on: takte, bakit sya???
di naman sa pagmamayabang, mas matalino ako dun. pero a yr from now (sakaling pumasa sya ng bar exam), attorney na sya. ako isang hamak na marketing executive pa din.
grade 3 pa lang ako pangarap ko nang maging abogada. di ba mga usong pelikula nung early 90's ung mga action movie na pinapatay ung mga abogadong pinaglalaban ang tama? binalaan pa ko ng service driver namin dati na delikado ang buhay abogado. pero di pa din talaga ako nagpatinag. gusto kong maging abogada period.
haaay... sana mayaman na lang kame. para makapag-aral ako at meron pa ding magbibigay ng allowance saken. tapos di ko kailangan magtrabaho para mag-abot ng pera sa bahay.
may ipon ako. pero pang-isang taon lang un sa law school. aaaahhhh! hirap kumita ng pera!

i filed for a sick leave today. it's my first SL ever since i got here. sure i get sick once in a while, but i still opt to go to work. it's just me. i dream of my accounts. i stay late to get things done. i always go the extra mile.
my last business trip was really exhausting. we stayed at different hotels every night. we get to the hotel at 10pm-ish to check in, then our call time the following day is 7am (sometimes 6am), so just imagine what time you need to get up. oh, one more thing: i share the room with my boss. do you know what that feels? you work for 16 hrs with them, and the last thing you want to see is their face before you get your much deserved sleep. but no, you have to give way until she finishes using the bathroom, and you have to get up much earlier than her. gaaaarrrrr. you're also with the big boss, a super egotistic one, who eats power tripping capsules for breakfast like cereal bits.
then it got me. on my way back to hk, i caught a flu. i must have had it middle of the trip, but since we're so busy and all i only had time to realize that my body was starting to give up on me while i was waiting for my plane. i still went to work the following day and worked my ass off.
but today, i had the guts to actually file for a sick leave.
it was fucking liberating!
i was too scared before to file for one. i live in the company house and they can always knock on my door and check up on me. but to hell with them. i need a rest and my accounts need to wait for tomorrow. if they cannot, that should not be my problem. that's what bosses are for -- to formulate a contingency plan just in case somebody is not available to do a task.
it's my first time that i prioritized health over work. and it feels damn good. i should take care of myself more often. why am i slaving myself to work anyway? im overworked, underpaid and stuck.
