our photo exhibit

yey! same period as last year! more exhibitors, bigger venue, more sponsors! saan ka pa? i predict that ppc will be the biggest photo club in the world in the next 100 years!

all of the members were forcing me to include the Moscow Train image. I never really liked it. it was so bare. but i had to due to insistent public demand. hehe... they even used it as my rep image.

here is the brochure!

other side

b's is the one with guitar. hats off to tita joann for thinking of the caption - strumming my pain with his fingers... genius! genius! very apt for a rockstar wannabe.

we will rock you the musical

if there is one thing i adore about my father, it would have to be his obsession about music. i grew up listening to oldies song - engelbert humperdink, frank sinatra, bee gees, credence clearwater revival, and queen. i would always wake up at 6 in the morning with bohemian rhapsody in full blast. that's the way it has always been.

now here comes 'WE WILL ROCK YOU'. a musical playing around the songs of the legendary band queen. i think no other band can surpass freddie mercury and the gang's skills. join a singing contest and sing a queen song perfectly, and you'll be undoubtedly declared the winner. only people with guts can give justice to their songs.

b and i were celebrating our --- monthsary (haha, i was able to use that word again!) and we opted to spend it at the hong kong academy of performing arts and watch the musical. he's an aspiring rockstar, and i am... well an aspiring girlfriend of a rockstar.

who gets to play the lead? mig ayesa! yes, the aussie born pinoy who rocked the world with his stint in inxs' search for their vocalist. he's really good. i was watching that show before but i never thought he's THAT good. he's not only a good singer, but a very good actor and dancer - a complete performer to say the least. i told you we pinoys shall rule the world!

this is the first international play that i was able to watch. i thought of watching phantom of the opera before but backed out last minute because i thought of the money i am spending - i am not that 'cultured' to begin with.

but it's really different watching a musical with an unlimited budget. you'll be amazed at the coordination of it all. it's like all your fantasies are coming true, in more ways that you could imagine. it's an experience. and when you look back, you'll realize the money isn't anything at all.

and dig this, i was able to take videos of some highlights of the play! sneaky, eh? b used his dslr and the theatre people noticed him and asked him to erase all photos - all 500 of them!

these are no-look-videos. i hid my digicam inside my jacket and pretended that i was just raising my it. i was praying most of the time that i just raised it enough to get a good angle. yehe, sneaky, sneaky....

see the videos!

venetian macau

i swear you'll be amazed at the structure of venetian macau. hats off to its engineers, architects, interior designers, construction workers etc. i assume that the founders of the venetian hotels are obsessed with everything italian. and they would go all the way to faking clear skies to maximize the 'european effect'. every corner is really a sight to behold. it would have neen better if all visitors were wearing victorian suits to get the perfect feeling!

please note that everything here is on an enclosed structure.

this is how i and b shall look like in our senior years. you know, just splurging our life savings and traveling.. hehe..

the different faces of grand lisboa

spend 2 minutes infront of grand lisboa and you'll be amazed at the artistry of lights. i have always wondered about the mechanisms of 'parol'. my classmates in physics were able to produce one when i was in high school. i still could not fathom the magic that they have done. it's artistry in its purest form. and the grand lisboa lights are like parol x 1 million.

short macau getaway

saturday may 10, 2008
while we were cuddling in bed, minds blank..
me: do you want to go to macau?
b: but i don't have money for the ferry
me: don't worry, we'll use my 'kupit' money
b: ok. let's go.

tawag lang kay annie... and then we're off to macau! yey! we boarded the next available ferry 30 mins after the conversation above. 30 mins involved brushing our teeth, getting our camera gears, packing two nights of clothes, and buying dinner at mcdonalds. don't you just love impulsive travels?

of all the coincidences, we were beside one pinay in the ferry. we talked throughout the journey without asking for names. and the following day, we saw her with her husband in a cathedral in macau!

pinoys are everywhere, you cannot help it! sooner we pinoys shall rule the world! yeba!

we met annie at the newly built venetian hotel-resort. grabe ang arrive ng hotel na ito... it was listed as third in the world with regards to the land area occupied by a single establishment. as in mahihilo ka sa laki. oh well, that's just me.. im not really fond of luxurious indoor stuff. i lived in makati for more two years and i still couldn't roam around glorietta alone. give me tattered map of a weird jungle and i can navigate my way, but not a mall please. not even supermarkets! haha! i'll do a separate post on venetian. we really wanted an outdoor pic of venetian. we saw some photos in the net and they were really spectacular. too bad it was raining real hard when we arrived, so we had to go to annie's home. it was quite late anyway.

we saw tito pol (annie's dad) having his midnight snack when we arrived. he was the first male adult (tatay age) to meet b. sa sobrang laki nya uurong talaga dila mo. he was joking that if b takes me for a fool, he'll have him get killed by different groups that he knows. the usual pagbabanta ng tatay stuff. what a gentle giant?! i really love the salvador clan. they were all like: o ilang beses ka namin hinihintay. ilang beses mo sinabi na dadating ka pero last minute nagbaback out ka sabi ni gheeya (annie's nickname). i had to make a litany of the reasons why i couldn't go. they missed me for almost a year! don't you just love pinoy families? they welcome new peeps and they are sincere in doing it!

buti na lang may dala akong ferrero for tita lileth (mother's day the following day) so extra bait nila samin. grabe, lamon kung lamon! tinapa, sugpo, pinakbet, basta pinoy food, meron! yey! nakailang balik kame ng kain! at syempre mawawala ba ang karaoke sa tahanang pinoy? syempre may magic sing habang nag-iinuman. at itong boypren kong pangarap maging rakista, talagang nagpasikat! lalo tuloy akong na-in love.. hehe.. as in dagdag kilig points talaga kapag kumakanta sya. iba talaga ang dating. feel na feel...

oh, and we went for a mass, too! basta naman sa salvador clan, kain ka lang ng kain, pero pag oras ng misa, walang excuse. kailangang pumunta. they wouldn't ask you if you want to go to mass, they'd ask you when you're going to mass. first time i was with b inside a church. we'll do it again.

then finally we were able to do what we went there for! taking photos of course! starting at ten in the evening! so we moved around the plaza and the nearby casinos. grabe, nakakapagod ang magdala ng camera, tripod, at 10 kilo ng laman sa tyan. we were dead tired after 4 hours! we even spent around 15 mins lying on the benches and we were so tempted to sleep at the streets. together with the homeless people and beggars! we really didn't have the energy to go home! but we got our last string of energy and walked home. pagdating, gutom lang pala kami! we just raided the ref and then we're alive again! ang sarap ng leftover pizza!

di man halatang namiss ko ang magkwento! every detail talaga e!

osyasya, here are the photos:

ang aking signature backshot! haha! grabe talaga dito, nanginginig ang tuhod ko!

that's b, trying to be dramatic. nyehe..

ke-reng-keng

im sorry, kabit na kung kabit. but have i said i love b dearly? i really do. he makes me feel special more than i could hope for. you know when you just have to say to yourself that men are created this way, ie, polygamous, insincere, dumb, and/or lazy because if you try to ponder on such matter you'll just go crazy? i didn't have to say these! no exaggeration. he remembers dates, surprises me in any way he can, goes to my office to help me with work, wakes up earlier to wake me even if i have to use the bathroom first.. those little things that make you go gaga... hay, papa jesus, ipunin mo na lahat ng good deeds ko. i now know what i want! speeden up the legal issue. pronto. demanding?! haha!

guys, meet b...

he's going to kill me for exposing him, but let's give a face to the name nonetheless!

he's just pretending to use the piano. he used to be a professional guitar player but now he works in this studio doing admin tasks. i really think he's cute. especially cute when he gets mad at my stubborness but tries to conceal it because he knows it'll be war if i fire back. and when he sings! he can sing a rob thomas song effortlessly.

express trip around the world

i made a trip around the world in about 12 hours -- the jologs way! this is the round the world trip for the cheapos! just get a chinese visa, and arm yourself with 120rmb... you just got yourself a feel of the seven continents with a warm weather sans changing your clothes.

since i don't have money yet to even get out of hk, let's settle to the replicas in shenzhen. grabe no, pati tourist spot ginagaya. don't you just love china? i salute china for bridging the gap between the broke dreamers and the real world!

welcome to shenzhen's windows to the world! yeba! please pardon my ignorance if i made some mistakes in naming the places... here are my photos:

these shots were taken when we went up the eiffel tower. di naman sa pagmamayabang, pero ito ang aking mga no-look shots. eto ung mga shots na overhead ang cam without you even knowing kung pano lalabas sa frame. ang gagaling no? took me 10 seconds of controlled breathing per shot. i tried around 50 shots! so imagine b's patience while waiting for me. i got 10 good ones.

this is for real. this is how shenzhen looks at night.

time to save up so i can go to the real thing. sana naman di ba. kahit singapore man lang!
